Follow Friday (17)

It's been almost 3 weeks that I've been MIA from blogging, but I finally got a new computer so I'm back and just in time for another Follow Friday! This meme, hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee, features two blogs and a book related question to promote/expand blogs. This week's question is...

Have you ever looked at a book's cover and thought, this is going to be horrible? But instead was pleasantly surprised? Show us the cover and tell us about the book.

However, after reading the book, and learning the significance of the pin, the simplicity of the cover fits so well. There is so much political upheaval, death, violence, loss of innocence and struggle for survival that a busy cover would just detract from the story.

What was your answer for this FF? Leave a comment with a link and I'll come check it out!

  1. I like it simply because it's...simple. :)

  2. I'll join you on the stakes for this one because I thought the same thing! But once you understand the pin and realize just how much happens, anything else on the cover would have been either too much or incredibly misleading. Good choice!

  3. I thought about using this cover for my FF, too. It is a very bland cover.

  5. Hopping through. I rather like the Hunger Games cover - probably because it's so bland that it stands out.
Have you seen the Harvard Lampoon's Hunger Pains cover? It's hilarious. With a shot mockingjay.

  6. I guess I can see your point, but since I heard all the hype before I saw the cover I really didn't notice before. Great pick.

  7. Although I don't think this cover is horrible, nothing could have prepared me for such a great experience with this novel. Nice choice!

I don't mind the cover, it's quite simplistic :) I absolutely loved the book though.

  9. Hi there, Hopping through :)

Quite a few people have chosen this book. It really doesn't do anything for the story that's within. Hasn't hurt it though.

    I'm also your newest follower!

  11. Huh, to me this book/cover combination worked the other way around, and for this I know I'd surely be crucified. But I kind of liked the cover and hated the book. Just don't hold that against me, k? LOL

  16. No worries. I for one couldn't agree more. That cover does nothing for me...at all. Then again, I don't think the book / series itself is for me either.
